WHAT IS ULTHERA SKIN TIGHTENING?
Ulthera uses focused ultrasound beams to tighten and stimulate collagenesis of the deep layers of the skin whilst bypassing the superficial epidermis. This results in a more effective skin tightening with far less downtime and is suitable for all skin types from fair caucasions to the darkest skin types.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED BY ULTHERA SKIN TIGHTENING?
Ulthera at Kiora is primarily used to tighten the skin of the lower face and neck. These areas are traditionally very hard to improve with either surgical or non-surgical medical techniques since a certain degree of laxity is required around the neck and lower face to allow normal movement of the head. Since Ulthera uses ultrasound to directly improve the quality of the skin it can create a tighter more youthful appearance without affecting the range of movement of the head. Other areas that can be treated with Ulthera skin tightening include the upper face for a brow lift and the stomach area.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ulthera Skin Tightening uses focused ultrasound beams to specifically target layers of the skin at key depths of 4.5mm, 3mm and 1.5mm. The focused ultrasound beams bypass the superifical layers of the skin and causes direct heating and tightening of the critical layers of the skin requried for a visible and natural improvement.

IS IT EFFECTIVE FOR THE DARKER ASIAN SKIN TYPES?
This is an ideal system to effect a visible improvement and tightening of the skin for the darker asian skin types. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Malaysian, Indian and other South east asian skin types respond favourably to ultrasound stimulated skin tightening. Typically the pigment that causes the darker skin types blocks most of our cosmetic lasers and lessens their effectiveness for patients with darker skin. As Ulthera uses ultrasound energy it directly bypasses the superifical dark layers and works at the depth to effect the best possible tightening result.
Ulthera is a very low risk procedure. It uses ultrasound energy so unlike other systems there is no need to avoid sunlight exposure and their is no photosensitisation. The procedure is done under an advanced direct visualisation monitor to regulate the delivery of ultrasound energy in real time. This enables the correct dose to be delivered in the safest possible manner.
WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?
Any patient with skin that is starting to show the first signs of laxity. If you can see visible sagging of the skin compared to past photographs of yourself then you are suitable. Most patients, both male and female, are between 35 to 77 years of age. As Ulthera uses focused ultrasound to bypass the superficial layers of the skin and directly target the collagen it has almost no side effects, is not affected by the darkness of the skin and has almost no down time.
