Hyperhidrosis Injections FAQ
HOW DO ANTI-SWEATING INJECTIONS WORK TO TREAT HYPERHIDROSIS
The sweat glands of the body release sweat when they are activated by the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Kiora's anti-sweating injections normalises excessive sweating by safely inhibiting the release of this neurotransmitter. The nerves and sweat glands are left intact - but the secretion of sweat from the glands is drastically reduced as they can no longer be activated. Cosmetic Injections are rapidly becoming the gold standard for treating hyperhidrosis. Unlike surgery or iontophoresis our injections can be used to treat any area of the body including the face, hands and underarms.
DOES IT WORK?
Clinical studies show Anti-sweating Injections produce a 90% reduction in sweat production. This drops the sweat level to easily managed levels for most patients so that sweating rarely, if ever, interferes with their daily activities. The effects usually last 6 to 12 months. Case studies show that with repeated injections the sweat control becomes even better (patients become more confident and the emotional component of sweating is lessened) and tends to last longer. Our Cosmetic Injections are so effective in controlling sweating that many fashion houses make it compulsory for Hollywood actresses to get treated for Hyperhidrosis before they are lent their dresses for the Academy Awards!
DOES IT HURT? YOU MENTIONED NEEDLES?
The treatment starts with a sweat test to mark out the affected area. Tiny injections using insulin needles are then made to evenly distribute the Injections. Usually no analgesia is required - brief icing with an ice pack is more than sufficient. A topical numbing jelly can be applied for those rare clients who suffer from needlephobia.
ANTI-SWEATING INJECTIONS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO SURGERY
Dr Neville Lee See, one of Kiora's two principle Cosmetic Doctors, has been safely and reliably treating severe sweating (hyperhidrosis) with anti-sweating injections for over four years. The 30 minutes procedure reduces sweating by over 90% for a up to ten months and has outstanding proof of its clinical efficacy and safety. Dr Lee See has a long interest in using minimally invasive injectables as an alternative to surgical procedures. He sincerely believes these techniques are a revolution in the treatment of hyperhidrosis and are a far safer and more reliable way to treat hyperhidrosis than traditional surgical techniques which either ablate the nerve or excise the offending sweat glands.
