ADVANCED INJECTIONS TECHNIQUES
Modern injection techniques allow dermal fillers to improve the nose and chin, refresh sunken tear troughs and restore volume to the skin. Traditionally, these areas required silicone implants. Dermal fillers may even be used as a rhinoplasty alternative to add volume to flat noses to give a more pleasing profile. The result is instantaneous and lasts around 6 to 9 months. DO I NEED TO MOLD MY DERMAL FILLER AFTER THE INJECTION?
No! Definitely not! This is not a DIY operation!! An experienced doctor should accurately inject the dermal filler precisely into the correct location and the correct plane of the skin. There should be no need to mold the dermal filler into the correct area. Molding is merely done to help integrate the filler into the tissues of the skin more quickly. No patient ever leaves Kiora with a visible lump. However, very rarely the filler can move after the injection. Do not mold this yourself. You have up to a month to correct this lump and there is a Doctor at Kiora 6 days a week, all year around to ensure a professional is always available to review any procedure.
Dermal Fillers are delivered under the skin surface with a very fine needle. Once injected, the gel plumps and lifts the skin gently to replace collagen loss caused by the natural aging process. Movement and sensation are not affected – your lips and skin will look and feel soft and natural. The effect can last between 6-18 months depending on the location treated and the filler used.
Because this substance is naturally found in human cells, the likelihood of your body reacting to Dermal Fillers is extremely small and there is no need for allergy testing. WHY SHOULD MY DERMAL FILLERS BE PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED DOCTOR AT KIORA?
In response to a number of tragic and well publicised adverse cosmetic outcomes the Australian Medical Board Guidelines were changed on the 1st of October 2016. The law now requires all patients undergoing cosmetic procedures such as dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injection to be consulted personally (or via Skype) by a qualified Doctor. A nurse-only consultation is illegal. At Kiora, to maximise safety and minimise the reaction time to unexpected events, all such Dermal Filler procedures in Melbourne have always been performed personally by an experienced and qualified Cosmetic Doctor.
Since all Cosmetic Injections at Kiora are personally performed by our Cosmetic Doctors a large range of techniques are available to ensure you get the safest and most comfortable procedure possible. Our Doctors can choose from a range of nerve blocks, prescription only numbing creams, advanced fillers or simple ice analgesia. In addition Kiora is one of the first clinics to have access to a Dermal Filler with local anaesthetic incorporated into it. It gives our Doctors another option to provide safe and comfortable procedures, allowing them to comfortably inject areas like the nose, chin and cheeks. This product gives busy patients the option of getting their lips enhanced without the use of a dental block. These patients can drop by for a quick 20 minute procedure without worrying about having a numb mouth for the rest of the working day.
HOW DO I AVOID THE "PUFFY OR SAUSAGE LOOK" FROM DERMAL FILLERS?
In the experience of our Doctors the dreaded "sausage look" results from too much filler being injected in one overly large pass (sausage) into the incorrect plane of the skin. All dermal fillers procedures at Kiora are booked for at least 30 minutes giving our Doctors the time to accurately and precisely injection the filler. This care and attention to detail greatly minimises the chances of getting a puffy or unnatural result. Our Doctors have a preference for using small "micro-threads of dermal filler" s into the correct plane of the skin to reinforce and lift the lax tissues. This results in a more natural and longer lasting result.
CAN I DRINK AFTER MY DERMAL FILLERS? WHAT ABOUT EXERCISE? FLYING?
No exercise should be done for 24hrs after the dermal filler procedure. In the unlikely event a bruise forms exercise should be avoided for 48-72hrs. You can fly out immediately from Melbourne Airport after dermal fillers. The low pressure of the airline cabin will not increase the chance of adverse events. Drinking after dermal fillers is ok too. Phew!
